Hi there! I'm Kevin and I'm pleased to share a selection of my work with you. I love to capture the sense of power and majesty of the landscape around me. What better place to draw inspiration from than in British Columbia, Canada, and especially on its Sunshine Coast. Be sure to check out my videos and the recent work as presented at the Sunshine Coast Art Crawl this year.
You can also find me on Instagram (Madpark Wells) and Facebook so feel free to connect and follow me there. I'd love to read your comments, so please let me know what you think via the contact link

Adding Texture to your Acrylic Painting: A New Course in April 2024
Acrylic paints are very versatile and give you, the artist, opportunity to create art pieces in different styles. Typically, acrylic paintings do not show the type of brush work that is characteristic of oil paintings. The plastic nature of the binding in acrylic paint tends to 'relax' as the paint dries and this results in a flatter texture. Oil paints tend to have more pigment than acrylic paints and this can also give the finished piece a more vibrant look.
We can, however, give our acrylic work a nudge in this direction by adding a heavy medium, as well as being more aware of colour theory when mixing paints. This intent of this course is to learn how to use and apply a heavier medium in order to paint with texture in a looser style.

Art Crawl 2023 was another successful event! A big thanks to all those who purchased artwork over the weekend. We had over 300 visitors through and I had a great time talking to them and sharing some thoughts on my work. All the compliments were greatly appreciated.

I've been experimenting with some more abstract pieces lately, as you can see from the video link above. These are all 11" x 14" and are acrylic on canvas. They utilize a heavy medium to give the work texture. I hope you enjoy them!
